| Provider Profile Neal S. Perlmutter, M.D., F.A.C.C. Dr. Perlmutter has practiced cardiology on the Eastside since 1989. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri—Columbia, and completed both internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship training at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Perlmutter practices primarily general cardiology, including office and hospital consultation, stress echo and nuclear testing, noninvasive cardiac imaging, cardiac catheterization, and pacemaker implantation. He is also the medical director of Overlake Internal Medicine’s Nuclear Cardiology laboratory, which recently became one of the few laboratories accredited by the International Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Laboratories. Dr. Perlmutter is considered a regional expert in hypertension, cholesterol management, and heart failure, speaking regularly to primary care physicians on these topics. He has served as head of Overlake Hospital’s Institutional Review Board (the hospital’s committee supervising clinical trials), and has served as principal investigator for several clinical trials, as well. Dr. Perlmutter practices exclusively at Overlake Hospital, which was named to Solucient’s “Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals” in 2000, 2003, and 2006. He maintains offices in Bellevue and Issaquah. Dr. Perlmutter enjoys running, cycling, and swimming, and has completed 11 marathons, and numerous endurance cycling and triathalon events. He was an Olympic Torchbearer in the Olympic Torch Relay in 2002. He encourages his patients to become physically active, and make lifestyle changes whenever possible. He has two sons and is happily married.
